NEW YORK–The NJIT men's fencing team went a perfect 5-0 at the MACFA A vs. B meet hosted by Hunter College.
NJIT (12-2 overall) was victorious against Lafayette (20-7), Rutgers (21-6), Rowan (26-1), Drew (16-11) and Cornell (14-13).
Leading the way for the Highlanders on Sunday was freshman Allen Trudnos (12-0) in the saber competition followed by Christopher Cortez (10-2), Adrian Figueredo (9-0) and Gonzalo Fernandez (9-3). The saber squad combined for a 40-5 overall record.
Matthew Choi paced the epee squad with a 9-4 overall mark and Cristian Candescu and Kevin Katayama each went 8-1 in men's foil competition.
NJIT will conclude the 2023 season at the Sacred Heart Invitational on December 3.
