BALTIMORE, MD - The NJIT women's volleyball team was defeated in straight sets on Friday, falling to host UMBC 3-0 in its 2023 season finale.

The Highlanders conclude the 2023 campaign with nine wins, their most since the 2017 season.

UMBC set the tone with a decisive 25-7 first set win on Friday, before winning the second and third sets 25-23 and 25-19 to win the match and clinch the top seed in the upcoming America East Tournament. 

Elley Torres paced the Highlanders with nine kills, while Juliana Impaglia led the way with 15 sets and a team-high-tying seven digs. Torres and Sara Siefert also finished with seven digs.

Four Highlanders wrapped up their careers on Friday - graduate students Adriana Goetz-Morales and Impaglia, and seniors Kaitlyn Arias and Torres.
