NEWARK, NJ–NJIT men's soccer (5-7-4, 2-2-2 AE) will close out the 2023 regular season on Halloween, Tuesday, October 31 against UAlbany (5-10-1, 1-4-1 AE).

Game Information

America East Conference Standings
NJIT tallied one point and sits in fifth place with the 0-0 draw against UMBC, moving to 5-7-4 overall, 2-2-2 in the America East.  The Highlanders clinched a spot into the 2023 America East Conference Men's Soccer Postseason Tournament for the fourth straight season since joining the America East in July 2020.

The America East is ranked #5 as a conference behind the Pac-12, ACC, Sun Belt and Big East. The America East currently has five teams in the top-65 of RPI. New Hampshire ranks seventh, Vermont (14th), Bryant (16th), UMBC (33rd) and NJIT (60).

Tied for 18th in the Nation in Assists
Sophomore Maximus Barboto, the 2022 America East Conference Rookie of the Year, sits tied for 18th in the nation in assists with 8. 

The eight assists in a single season ties the NJIT Division I record and his 12 career assists ranks fifth all-time in the NJIT Division I era.

Goalkeeper Samuel Reisgys
Senior goalkeeper Samuel Reisgys, the Highlanders all-time career saves leader with 287 career saves, played in his 75th career match vs. UMBC, which is one match shy of the NJIT Division I mark (76, held by Rene White '21).

Win Over Top 15 Team
NJIT upset then-ranked No. 15 Vermont on October 7, 1-0, for the program's first win over a United Soccer Coaches top-25 team since 2015.

Scouting the Great Danes from UAlbany
–UAlbany enters the contest with a 5-10-1 overall record, 1-4-1 in the America East
–The Great Danes have dropped its last three matches, including a 1-0 loss to No. 21 Vermont on Friday evening
–The Great Danes will conclude its season on Tuesday as six teams have clinched their spot in the America East Conference Postseason Tournament.
–Ander Castillo and Mamadi Jiana pace the Great Danes with four goals each; Castillo is the team-leader with 11 points
–Alex Pechacek leads UAlbany with seven assists, which ranks tied for 26th in the nation.
