ALBANY, NY - The NJIT women's volleyball team was defeated by host UAlabny in America East action on Sunday as the Great Danes defeated the Highlanders in four sets at University Gym on the campus of Russell Sage College.
UAlbany took the opening set 25-19 before the Highlanders bounced back with a come-from-behind 31-29 win in the second set to tie the match. The Great Danes went back in front with a 25-15 win in the third set and clinched the match with a 25-14 fourth set victory.
Freshman
Sara Siefert led the way offensively tallying 15 kills, while
Elley Torres and
Adriana Goetz-Morales chipped in with 11 and 10, respectively.
Another freshman,
Rowan Schreiber, was once again a force at the net with five blocks and
Doga Emil also shined defensively with 14 digs.
NJIT returns to action on Wednesday for its final non-conference match of the season against Stonehill. First serve is set for 6pm in the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.
