NEWARK, NJ - The NJIT women's volleyball team was defeated in straight sets by visiting UMBC in America East Conference action on Sunday afternoon in the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.
UMBC won the first two sets 25-13 and 25-16, respectively, before clinching the match with a 25-19 third-set victory.
Doga Emil led the Highlanders' defense with a match-high 18 digs, while
Elley Torres and
Taylor West each had four blocks as NJIT out-blocked the Retreivers 7-5.
Adriana Goetz-Morales finished with six kills to lead NJIT.
Juliana Impaglia led the Highlanders with 13 assists.
NJIT returns to action on Wednesday for a non-conference matchup at Saint Peter's. First serve is slated for 7pm in Jersey City.
