NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT men's soccer team will play its next three out of four matches in the America East on the road, first visiting Bryant on Sunday at 2pm.

Game Information
Kickoff is slated for 2pm at Beirne Stadium streamed live on ESPN+.  In-game statistics are available on BryantBulldogs.com.

Week 7 - United Soccer Coaches Northeast Region
The Highlanders check in at No. 9 in Week 7 after upsetting then-ranked No. 15 Vermont, 1-0, on Saturday, October 7.  

Other America East men's soccer teams ranked in the Northeast Region: New Hampshire (No. 1), Vermont (No. 2) and Bryant (No. 3).

Win Over Top 15 Team
NJIT upset No. 15 Vermont Saturday afternoon, 1-0, for the program's first win over a United Soccer Coaches top-25 team since 2015.

Alvaro Heredia Named to the CollegeSoccerNews Men's National Team of the Week
Heredia came up with the big play the Highlanders needed to upset nationally ranked No. 15 Vermont 1-0 when he alertly sent the rebound of teammate Jordi Navio Sanchez's blocked shot into the back of the net. 

Heredia recorded his fourth goal of the season which shares the team lead with Hugo Tavares.  Heredia, Tavares and Maximus Barboto each share the team lead with 12 points.

Samuel Reisgys Selected America East Defensive Player of the Week
NJIT graduate student Samuel Reisgys has been selected America East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

In a 1-0 week for NJIT, Reisgys, the Highlanders goalkeeper made one save in a 1-0 home shutout against No. 15 Vermont on Saturday on NJIT's Homecoming Weekend.

Reisgys, the all-time saves leader at NJIT with 275 saves, ranks third in the America East in saves per game (3.00) and fourth in saves percentage (.698).

This is the third career America East weekly honor for Reisgys.

America East Conference & Standings (as of 10/8/23)
NJIT remains undefeated in the America East, 2-0-1 and improves to 5-4-3 overall. NJIT sits tied for first with UMBC in the America East standings.

The America East is ranked #5 as a conference behind the Pac-12, ACC, Sun Belt and Big East. The America East is one of 4 conferences with four teams in the top 60 of RPI, with the Pac-12, ACC and Sun Belt.  The America East currently has five teams in the top-60 of RPI. Vermont leads at 15th, followed by Bryant (28), New Hampshire (29), UMBC (49) and NJIT (53).

Tied for Second in the Nation in Assists
Sophomore Maximus Barboto, the 2022 America East Conference Rookie of the Year, sits tied for second in the nation in assists with 8. 

The eight assists in a single season ties the NJIT Division I record and his 12 career assists ranks fifth all-time in the NJIT Division I era.

–Bryant enters Sunday's match with a 10-1-2 overall record and 0-1-2 in the America East
–The Bulldogs are undefeated in their last five matches (3-0-2)
–Most recently Bryant defeated Northeastern, 1-0, scoring a goal in the 75th minute
–As a team, Bryant ranks first in the nation in saves percentage (0.897) and shutout percentage (0.769)
–Javier Soler Gandia (5) ranks eighth in the America East in goals.  Soler Gandia tallied 10 points.
–Goalkeeper Antreas Hadjugavriel ranks first in the America East in goals against average (.231), saves (26) and shutouts (10).
