NEWARK, NJ–After a pair of America East Conference road games, the NJIT women's basketball team will return home on Wednesday for an 11:30am matinee, hosting Bryant on Education Day inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.

Education Day
Education Day is a field trip that gives local elementary and middle-school students an opportunity to participate in educational activities while attending a basketball game.

Tip off is slated for 11:30am inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center on ESPN+ with in-game statistics available on NJITHighlanders.com.

All-Time Series
Wednesday will mark the third all-time meeting between the two schools.  Bryant leads the series, 2-0.  The last two meetings have been decided by four or less points.

1K Milestone for Kenna Squier
Kenna Squier became the 12th player in the NJIT women's basketball history (5th in the NJIT Division I era) to reach the 1,000 career point milestone on Saturday, January 14 at UAlbany.

America East Conference
NJIT will begin its third season in the America East and will play a schedule of 16 conference games against the other eight schools.  The Highlanders became the 10th full member of the America East on July 1, 2020 and were selected to finish fourth in the 2022-23 preseason coaches poll, receiving 42 votes.

NJIT has won its #AEHoops opener in all three of its seasons as a league member.  The Highlanders swept their opening week of games for the second straight year. In 2021-22 NJIT started the year 4-0 in conference play. 

Last Time Out
Defending America East Champion UAlbany topped visiting NJIT, 73-54, Saturday afternoon in America East women's basketball action at Hudson Valley Community College.

The Great Danes were led by Helene Haegerstrand's game-best 28 points followed by Morgan Stanley who combined for 20 points.

NJIT was led by freshman Alejandra Zuniga's team-best 11 points on 5-of-9 from the field, recording two rebounds, two steals and two assists in 19 minutes of action off the bench.

Senior Kenna Squier became the 12th player in NJIT women's basketball history (fifth in the NJIT Division I era) to reach the 1,000 career-point milestone, netting nine points on 4-of-4 from the field while adding four steals and two rebounds.

Block Party at Binghamton
The 13 team blocks at Binghamton ties the NJIT Division I era record for most blocks in a single season and one block shy of the NJIT all-time record (14 vs. Baruch on February 12, 1996).  Trinity Williams combined for career-best six blocks, Squier career-best four blocks and Aria Myers career-high two blocks in the 62-57 victory at Binghamton on January 11.

Scouting Bryant
Bryant snapped a five-game skid, registering the program's first America East win since joining the league in July 2022 with a 65-44 home victory over visiting New Hampshire on January 16.

Nicole Gallagher recorded a season-high 20 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds in the Bryant University women's basketball team's 65-44 home win against New Hampshire.

Alana Perkins drained four three-pointers and tallied 16 points. Mariona Planes Fortuny posted 12 points and hauled in eight boards.

Planes Fortuny tops the America East in scoring (16.1ppg) and is shooting 51.1 percent from the field while averaging 5.8rpg.

Gallagher has recorded 10 double-digit scoring games this season, with six being in America East play. 

The Bulldogs were predicted to finish seventh in the America East preseason coaches poll.

NJIT will welcome Vermont to the Wellness and Events Center on Saturday, January 21.  Tip off is slated for 7pm on ESPN3.
