SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - The NJIT women's volleyball team dropped its final two matches at the Seton Hall Classic on Friday, falling to Central Connecticut State in four sets and the host Pirates in three sets.
The Blue Devils took the first two sets 25-21 and 25-22 in the opener, before the Highlanders came back with a 25-22 victory in the third set to extend the match. CCSU held off NJIT 25-20 in the final set to clinch the match. Three different Highlanders -
Emma Godwin,
Asher Vallone, and
Cami Augustine - all recorded double-digit kills, with Godwin's 12 and .212 hitting percentage leading the way.
Courtney Branch totaled nine blocks (two solo) as the Highlanders out-blocked the Blue Devils 14-9.
In match two, Seton Hall set the tone with a 25-17 first set victory and made it 2-0 after a 25-15 second set win. The hosts clinched the victory with a 25-21 win in the final set. Vallone sent down seven kils to pace the Highlanders, while
Juliana Impaglia dished out 25 assists after a 39-assist performance in the first match of the day.
The Highlanders return home for their next match as they host Iona on Wednesday at the Wellness and Events Center. First serve is slated for 7pm.
