BOSTON, MA - Grant Vurpillat, a senior on the NJIT baseball team, was named the America East Pitcher of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.

Vurpillat made his 20th career start on Sunday and it was easily his best as he pitched 6.2 scoreless innings, while striking out a career-best nine hitters and walking none in NJIT's 10-4 victory over Norfolk St., the 2021 MEAC Champions.

The honor is the first of Vurpillat's career.

Vurpillat and the Highlanders return to action this weekend with three games at Villanova. Friday's series opener is slated to begin at 3pm.
