NEWARK, NJ–Colgate's Taylor Golembiewski led all scorers with 15 points and seven rebounds as the visiting Raiders defeated NJIT, 69-51, in women's basketball non-conference action Wednesday evening inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.

Colgate snaps a three-game skid, improving to an even 4-4 overall while the Highlanders move to 4-6 overall.

Golembiewski finished 6-of-9 from the field and shared game-high honors with NJIT's Trinity Williams with seven rebounds.  Forward Tiasia McMillan was the other Raider netted double-figures, finishing with 12 points on 6-of-10 from the field.  Guard Jenna Paul chipped in nine points.

Williams was the Highlanders lone player in double-digits, combining for 13 points followed by Kenna Squier (8) and Reese Vaughan (6).  Vaughan finished 2-for-3 from three-point range.

The Raiders got off to a quick start, jumping out to a 12-3 lead, heading into the under five media timeout.  NJIT rallied back to cut the deficit to six after an old-fashioned three-point play by Williams at the 2:09 mark.  Williams scored six points through the first 10 minutes.

NJIT slimmed the lead to three, 18-15, at the 7:33 mark of the second quarter after a converted three-point play by Lilly Anderson. NJIT stayed within four points until the Raiders used a 9-4 spurt to take its biggest lead of the half, nine, 30-21, with less than a minute to go.

Williams led all scorers at the half with 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field while Paul led the Raiders with nine points.

Colgate opened the third period on a quick 6-2 run to take a double-digit lead, 11, 38-27, at the 7:04 mark.  NJIT answered back with a 7-2 spurt of its own, capped by a three-pointer from Vaughan, which cut the Raider deficit back to single digits, nine, 43-34.  The Raiders extended its lead to 13 in the quarter, 47-34.

NJIT, trailing by 10, 49-39, heading into the final period, slimmed the Raider lead to nine points on four different occasions in the opening five minutes of the four quarter, the final at the 5:19 mark on a fast break layup by Alejandra Zuniga.  Colgate closed out the game on a 10-1 run to secure the 69-51 road victory.

NJIT will conclude the non-conference slate on the road, visiting Saint Peter's (Dec. 10 at 2pm) and Wagner (Dec. 17 at 3pm) before opening up the America East Conference slate on December 29 against New Hampshire.
