NEW YORK–The NJIT men's fencing team recorded a perfect 5-0 record at the MACFA A vs. B meet paced by freshman Adrian Figueredo who went undefeated (13-0) in the men's saber competition hosted by Hunter College Sunday afternoon.
The NJIT men swept the field against: Lafayette (19-8), Rutgers (17-10), Rowan (26-1), Drew (19-8) and Cornell (21-6).
Figueredo led the Highlanders with a 13-0 overall mark in saber competition followed by Christopher Cortez (11-2) and Jaysonn Zelaya (10-3). The saber squad finished with an impressive 40-5 overall record.
The NJIT foil squad recorded a 34-11 overall record, led by Cristian Candescu and Josh Schaefer who each registered 11 wins on the day. Robert Rountree combined for nine wins.
Freshman Matthew Choi led the men's epee squad posting a 10-3 mark followed by Niels Roubailo with a 7-1 mark.
The Highlanders will return to action on December 4 at the Sacred Heart Invitational.
