NEWARK, NJ - The NJIT women's volleyball team was defeated by visiting New Hampshire in four sets on Friday evening in America East action at the Wellness and Events Center.
UNH took the first set in decisive fashion, winning 25-16, but the match became close from there until the final point. The Wildcats held off NJIT 27-25 in the second set to take a 2-0 lead, before the Highlanders won the third set 30-28 to extend the match. In the fourth set, UNH was victorious 25-21 to clinch the match 3-1.
Four different Highlanders recorded double-digit kills on the evening, while Julia Impaglia dished out a match-high 48 assists to run the offense.
Adriana Goetz-Morales led NJIT in kills with 15, while
Cami Augustine came off the bench to send down 13 of her own in just three sets of action.
Ines Varela and
Elley Torres each added 10 kills to join Goetz-Morales and Augustine in double figures.
Impaglia also finished with 12 digs for a double-double, as did Torres (13 digs) and Augustine (11 digs).
Doga Emil's 14 digs were a team high on Friday evening.
NJIT will look to get back in the win column on Sunday when it hosts Binghamton at 1pm in the WEC. The match will be streamed on ESPN3, NJIT's first-ever home women's volleyball match on either ESPN3 or ESPN+.
