Men’s Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season with Senior Night on Tuesday

Highlanders will honor 10 graduating seniors in pregame ceremonies

NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT men's soccer team will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, November 1 on Senior Night, welcoming the newest member of the America East Conference Bryant at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.

Game Information
The match will be played on the campus of NJIT's Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium with kickoff slated for 6pm on ESPN.  In-game statistics will be available on NJITHighlanders.com.

Senior Night Pregame Ceremonies
NJIT will honor its 10 graduating seniors in pregame ceremonies – fifth-year seniors Luc Smith, J.J. Gaeir, graduate students Anthony Rovito and Jose Del Valle and seniors Alejandro Rabell, Samuel Reisgys, Jose Adames, Arrio Rusnak, Andreas Nicolaou and Eduardo Rossi.

All-Time Series
Bryant leads the all-time series, 1-0.  In the lone matchup between the two institutions, Bryant recorded a 2-0 victory over NJIT on September 21, 2013.

Last Time Out
UMBC scored a pair of goals in each half while NJIT's freshman Hugo Tavares scored the lone goal of the match for NJIT in a 4-1 America East Conference road loss on Friday, October 28.  The goal for Tavares was his second collegiate goal of his young career.

Scouting the Highlanders
NJIT has collected wins against James Madison, La Salle, Sacred Heart and Hartford while tying Drexel, Rider, UMass Lowell and Binghamton and dropped decisions at Big East foes UConn and Villanova, Iona from the MAAC, three-time defending America East Conference regular season champions New Hampshire, then-ranked No. 12 Vermont, UAlbany in the final minute of play and UMBC.

Prior to the New Hampshire goal in the second half on October 8, NJIT set a new Division I program record scoreless streak with a time of 407:25.  NJIT entered the match unbeaten in the last four, registering three ties (Rider, UMass Lowell, Binghamton) and a victory against Sacred Heart).

Jose Del Valle leads the Highlander attack with four goals and nine points followed by Goncalo Franco and Asembo Augo with three goals. Freshman Maximus Barboto, who has earned America East Conference Rookie of the Week twice this season thus far, is the son of head coach Fernando Barboto.   

Senior co-captain Samuel Reisgys has played in every match but one in goal for the Highlanders this season, posting a 1.70 goals-against average and a .693 saves percentage. His 233 career saves tops the record books in the NJIT All-Time Division I era.  

Scouting Bryant
Bryant, the newest member of the America East Conference, who joined the league in July 2020, is still in search of its first league victory.  The Bulldogs enter Tuesday's match with a 0-5-1 mark and 3-9-1 overall record.

The Bulldogs have lost the last five out of six contests with a tie against UMass Lowell on October 22.

Nick Swada paces the Bulldogs with two goals, one assist and five points while Digger Iqual and Luis Fernando Paul have tallied a pair of goals.
