BROOKLYN, NY–The NJIT women's fencing team opened the 2022-23 season with an impressive performance at the 2022 LIU Shark Tank Challenge, recording a 4-1 record Sunday afternoon inside Steinberg Wellness Center on the campus of LIU.
NJIT recorded four wins over: Wagner (18-9), Drew (18-9), Wellesley (17-10) and Stevens (18-9) while dropping a tight match against host LIU (14-13).
The epee squad recorded an 8-1 record against Wagner while the foil and saber squads each notched five victories.
In competition against Drew, the saber squad combined for a 7-2 mark followed by six victories for epee and five in foil.
The epee squad led the Highlanders against Wellesley, recording a 7-2 mark while the foil and saber squads each notched five wins.
Against host LIU, the epee squad was victorious, registering a 7-2 mark.
More individual accolades from the LIU Shark Challenge will follow.
NJIT will return to action on Sunday, October 30 at the Drew Invitational in Madison, NJ.
