NEWARK, N.J. —- NJIT Men's Swimming and Diving swept this week's America East weekly awards, with junior
Matthew Bevan earning Male Swimmer of the Week honors and sophomore
Aiden Ban claiming Male Diver of the Week.
Bevan and Ban helped the Highlanders win their first meet of 2022, defeating in-state rival Monmouth 179-110 last Friday (January 14).
The duo represented two of the four Highlanders to pick up a pair of individual victories, with Bevan winning the 100 breast in 58.28 and the 200 breast in 2:08.64 and Ban sweeping the dives with scores of 271.28 in the 3m and 260.25 in the 1m. Bevan also teamed up with freshmen
Aidan Blackmon and
Tanish Chhabra and senior
Edward Madrigal to win the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:34.03.
The awards are the third and fourth America East accolades for the program since joining the league in July 2020:
NJIT returns to action this Saturday, January 22 for its final home meet of the season against Rider.
