STORRS, CT - The NJIT women's volleyball team was defeated by Yale on Friday at the Dog Pound Challenge, which is being hosted by UConn this weekend at Gampel Pavilion.
Yale (6-1) took the opening two sets, 25-15 and 25-11, before winning the third set 25-13 to clinch the match and extend its winning streak to five.
NJIT (1-9) was led by
Elley Torres, who totaled seven kills and factored in on a pair of blocks.
Courtney Branch also was efficent for the Highlanders, recording five kills in eight swings, without committing an error (.625). Branch also factored in on a pair of blocks.
Kaitlyn Arias' 14 digs were a team-best, as were
Juliana Impaglia's nine assists.
Friday's match was the third all-time between NJIT and Yale, with all three coming at neutral sites.
The Highlanders wrap up play in Connecticut on Saturday with a pair of matches. NJIT is slated to take on the host Huskies at 12:30pm, before returning to the court to play Bryant at 3:30pm.
