2021-22 America East Conference Women's Basketball Schedule Unveiled

Official America East Release

2021-22 NJIT Women's Basketball America East Schedule

NEWARK, NJ--The America East Conference announced its 2021-22 women's basketball schedule on Wednesday, September 1.

NJIT will begin its second season in the America East and will play a schedule of 18 conference games against the other nine schools.  The Highlanders became the 10th full member of the America East on July 1, 2020.

The America East Conference slate will begin on December 30, hosting defending America East Conference Champions and NCAA Tournament participant Stony Brook.  NJIT will make its first road trip of the 2022 season, traveling to Maine on January 2.  On January 5, NJIT will welcome UMass Lowell to NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.

"We will certainly need to be loaded for bear as we start our America East schedule with the top three teams over the last two seasons," said fourth-year head coach Mike Lane. "Stony Brook, Maine and UMASS-Lowell have established themselves at the top of this conference and we await that challenge out of the gates."

The Highlanders will play two straight on the road, first visiting Binghamton on January 8 and UMBC on January 12.  NJIT will host Albany on January 15 before making a trip up to Vermont on January 19.

"We look forward to our initial conference battles against Binghamton, UMBC and Albany who we didn't face last year due to COVID," added Lane.

The Highlanders will play consecutive games at home, welcoming Binghamton on January 22 and UMBC on January 26.  A trip up to Albany on January 29 will wrap up the month of January.

The Highlanders will host Vermont on February 2 and visit Stony Brook on February 5.  On February 9, NJIT will welcome New Hampshire.  The Highlanders defeated the Wildcats on December 5, 2020 for the first-ever win in the America East since joining the league and first all-time over the Wildcats.

"We have Vermont, New Hampshire and Hartford who we are more familiar with as seven of our 13 conference games last year were against those institutions," said Lane.

NJIT will play back-to-back road contests, first beginning at Hartford on February 12 and at UMass Lowell on February 16.

The Highlanders will conclude the season with two out of three games at home.  NJIT will welcome Maine on February 23, play its final road game of the season on February 23 at New Hampshire and wrap up the season on Senior Day against Hartford.

The top eight teams will qualify for the 2022 #AEPlayoffs with all games at the higher seed.  The dates are: Quarterfinals: March 3; Semifinals: March 6; Final: March 11.

"As much as we anticipate America East competition, we really can't wait to play in front of family, friends and fans again," Lane concluded.

All game times and broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.  All #AEHoops games will air on ESPN+ or ESPN3 this season.
