Women’s Basketball Announces Team Awards



NEWARK, NJ--The NJIT women's basketball program recently announced four team awards third-year head coach Mike Lane announced.


Most Improved Award | Kiana Brereton 
Award Description: The Most Improved Award goes to the player most committed to the process of getting better. The player who best transfers what she learns in breakdowns, film sessions and in practice to her game. And the player who best understands that this process is not overnight, that it takes daily focus, effort and passion to become one's best.

Highlander Award | Maddie Martin
Award Description: The Highlander Award goes to the player who best exemplifies being Tougher, Smarter and Together on the court and off on a daily basis.  The player who best exemplifies how a student-athlete handles her academic, athletic and teammate responsibilities and has a warrior's mentality to deal with whatever adversity is set in her path.

Award Description: The Most Valuable Player is an individual selected by the coaching staff.
