GALLOWAY, N.J. --- The NJIT men's and women's cross country teams competed in their first-ever America East Championship meets Friday afternoon. The conference championship meets were held at the Seaview Golf Course in Galloway.

The women's team ended the 5K championship meet in ninth place overall with 284 points (1:50.46 total time, 22:09 average time). Senior Cassandra Raia recorded the best finish of any Highlander, placing 37th with a time of 19:34.90.

On the men's side, the Highlanders finished their 8K in tenth place (283 pts, 2:20:11.46 total time, 28:02.30 average). Brian McGlew paced NJIT during the meet, ending the race with a time of 27:23.21. Freshman Philmon Mehari was the second-best Highlander on the day, placing 62nd with a time of 27:33.93.
