NEWARK, NJ--No. 11 NJIT extended its win streak to eight matches with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 23) sweep at Sacred Heart Friday evening in EIVA Volleyball men's volleyball action.
NJIT, which has now won eight in a row, improved to 10-1 in the EIVA and 10-3 overall. Sacred Heart drops to 0-9 on the season.
Visiting NJIT was led by a match-best eight kills from Alvaro Gimeno followed by middle Martin de Chavarria (7) and Julian Meissner (6). De Chavarria combined for a .600 hitting percentage with (7k, 1e, 10a).
Freshman setter Griffin Fieseler led the match with 29 assists.
Defensively, Meissner led all players with nine digs while Carson Williams led the match with five total kills (one solo, four assists). De Chavarria added four total blocks (one solo, three solo).
Mark Berry led Sacred Heart offensively with six kills while setter Teddy Payne notched 16 assists.
The two teams will conclude its two-match EIVA weekend series on Saturday at 7pm.
