NEWARK, NJ - The NJIT women's volleyball team was defeated in straight sets by visiting Hartford in its season finale on Friday evening at the Wellness and Events Center.
Prior to the match, the Highlanders honored their four seniors -
Michaela Dungan,
Makayla Greenfield,
Marina Markaki, and
Udo Nwosu. All four were four-year members of the program.
The first two sets were close throughout as Hartford won the first set 25-21, before coming from behind to win the second 25-23. The Hawks then prevailed 25-14 in the third set to clinch the match.
The Highlanders were led by junior
Adriana Goetz-Morales, who finished with seven kills, while Nwosu and sophomore
Elley Torres recorded six and five kills, respectively.
Junior
Juliana Impaglia handled the setting duties for NJIT and dished out 23 assists, while Nwosu and Torres each had a team-high 11 digs.
