2019-20 Top Moments: Men's Swimming & Diving

NEWARK, N.J. --- The NJIT men's swimming and diving team produced a pair of outstanding moments during the 2019-20 season.

On December 8, The Highlanders earned their second consecutive Eastern College Athletics Conference (ECAC) Winter Championship title.

NJIT's repeat victory at the meet was also the program's fourth title in a six-year span. The Highlanders tallied 2038.5 and outscored second-place Fairfield by 236.5 points (1802).

Freshman Jake Nelms was named Men's Swimmer of the Meet after picking up four medals (1 G, 2 S, 1 B) in his five events and helping NJIT's 800 Free Relay place in the top five in his fifth. Head coach Ron Farina was named Men's Coach of the Meet for the second straight year after leading the Highlanders to back-to-back ECAC titles in his first two seasons at the helm.

Coach Farina was not the only member of the Highlander staff to be honored during the season. First-year assistant swim coach and head diving coach Dora Fyfe was named by her peers as the 2019-20 CCSA Men's Diving Coach of the Year at the CCSA Championships on February 22. Fyfe helped Cole Becker reach the finals of both the 1 Meter (7th, 213.65) and 3 Meter (6th, 260.85) events at CCSAs and helped Max Hafen join Becker in the 3 Meter finals (8th, 104.85).
