FLORENCE, AL—North Alabama defeated visiting NJIT, 90-45, in ASUN Conference women's basketball action at Flowers Hall in the season finale for the Highlanders.
The Lions (20-8, 11-5 ASUN) were led by three double-figure scorers paced by Brittany Panetti's game-high 27 points on 10-of-12 from the field. Guard Emma Wallen combined for 19 points, connecting on 6-of-9 from the field and 3-of-6 from three-point range while Jaida Bond just missed posting a double-double off the bench with 14 points and eight rebounds.
North Alabama finished the game shooting 55 percent from the field (33-for-60) and 93.3 percent from the free throw line (14-for-15).
NJIT (4-25, 1-15 ASUN) was paced by senior forward
Danielle Tunstall's team-best 16 points and five rebounds followed by
Milena Bajic (8) and
Kenna Squier (7).
North Alabama got off to a quick start 22-10, combining for a 57.1 field goal percentage from the field (8-for-14) in the opening 10 minutes.
The Lions continued its momentum into the second period, outscoring the Highlanders 21-7, extending North Alabama's advantage to 43-17. NJIT's
Kenna Squier had three points in the period for the Highlanders.
At the half, Emma Wallen led all scorers with 12 points while NJIT's
Kenna Squier,
Danielle Tunstall and
Milena Bajic paced the visitors with five points.
After a pair of baskets by North Alabama to start the third quarter, NJIT used a 9-2 run behind four points from
Ellyn Stoll for a 52-26 score. The Lions took its biggest lead of the game, 66-26, heading into the final quarter.
NJIT's

Milena Bajic and
Tracey Brereton played in their final collegiate contest at North Alabama.
Bajic, limited to games due to injury this season, has combined for seven double-digit games, including two double-doubles. She posted a career-best 17 points against Saint Peter's. She is enrolled in the Masters of Science program at NJIT and will receive her degree in management.
Brereton, sidelined due to injuries, made her return back to the hardwood after two seasons on February 8 against Jacksonville. The senior guard connected on a three-pointer against the Dolphins, marking her first points since her sophomore campaign. She was named to the Dean's List for seven semesters and will graduate with a biology degree.
Tunstall led NJIT in scoring (13.0ppg), rebounding (8.7rpg), blocks (41) and steals (41). She has registered 19 double-doubles for her career (nine for the season) while posting 19 double-figure contests, including five 20-point performances. Her 8.7rpg ranks Tunstall third in the ASUN. She recorded at least one block in 19 out of 29 games with a career-best five blocks vs. St. Francis Brooklyn and Stetson. For her career, Tunstall will leave her mark in the NJIT record books: 978 points (T-11th all-time), 766 rebounds (second D1 era; fourth all-time), 141 steals (top 8 D1 era) and 110 blocks (third all-time).
