NEWARK, NJ--The NJIT women's basketball team will welcome No. 22 FGCU on Saturday, February 22 at 1pm inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.

The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.  Michael Ventola, the voice of the Highlander women, will handle the play-by-play and color analysis from Matt Provence.

A simple way to find ESPN3 is on NJIT's official athletics website, www.njithighlanders.com. Near the middle of the home page under the headlines section, an upcoming events calendar lists scheduled NJIT contests. After finding the event, click the camera icon to the left of the event listing. That brings you to an ESPN3 portal where you can access the desired program.

Highlanders Pattern With It's From The Sole
The NJIT women's basketball team will partner with It's From The Sole on Saturday, February 22, hosting the program's first shoe drive when the Highlanders welcome FGCU inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.

Help the Highlanders in collecting NEW and GENTLY USED sneakers for all ages & genders!

At the conclusion of the Highlanders season, NJIT women's basketball and It's From The Soles will go out into the Newark community to handout shoes to those in need.

All-Time Series
FGCU leads the all-time series, 13-0.  The first time the two teams met dates back to March 6, 2008 in Edinburg, Texas at the Division I Independent Tournament.  The Eagles won 75-63.

Last Time Out
NJIT's Danielle Tunstall and Kenna Squier combined for 37 points but the Highlanders fell just short at Lipscomb, 68-66, in ASUN Conference women's basketball action Monday evening inside Allen Arena.

Down by as many as 23 in the third quarter, NJIT (4-21, 1-11 ASUN) produced 49 second-half points and pulled to within one of the Lady Bisons, 67-66, on a three-pointer from the top of the key by Dani Evans with :05 remaining.

Lipscomb (6-20, 3-10 ASUN) made one of two at the other end, taking a two-point advantage, 68-66, and the Highlanders last second shot from half court was just short.  

Scouting the Highlanders
NJIT is led by two double-figure scorers -- Danielle Tunstall (13.4ppg) and Kenna Squier (11.2ppg).

Tunstall, the Highlander forward, has registered 19 double-doubles for her career (nine for the season) while posting 17 double-figure contests, including five 20-point performances.  Her 9.0rpg ranks Tunstall third in the ASUN.

Squier, the freshman guard has combined for 15 double-digit games, including the last five-out-of-six contests.  She dished out a career-best eight assists at Lipscomb.

Scouting the Eagles
FGCU (26-2, 13-0 ASUN) clinched the program's 10th ASUN Regular Season Championship title (third straight) and the No. 1 seed in the ASUN Conference Tournament.

The Eagles became the first team nationally to reach 26 victories while stretching its overall win streak to 15.

Tytionia Adderly earned her second career ASUN Player of the Week honor, leading the Eagles to a 78-45 win over Lipscomb and 89-64 win over Kennesaw State last week.  The senior averaged 17 points, eight rebounds, five assists and 2.5 steals in a pair of wins.

USA Today Coaches Poll (as of Feb. 20)
The Eagles are ranked 22nd in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll and are up to 140 votes, which is just one shy of No. 21 Iowa.

Next Up
NJIT will wrap up the home portion of its schedule on Monday, February 24 at 7pm, welcoming Stetson to NJIT's Wellness and Events Center. Monday will mark Senior Day for three graduating seniors -- Danielle Tunstall, Milena Bajic and Tracey Brereton.   The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.
