NEWARK, NJ--After a back-and-forth battle through the first three quarters, the fourth quarter saw Fairleigh Dickinson outscore NJIT, 22-9, and the Knights went on to defeat the Highlanders 68-54 in non-conference women's basketball action inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.

Fairleigh Dickinson (3-1) winners of its last three was paced by a game-best 22 points from senior Madison Stanley on 9-of-11 from the field while grabbing seven rebounds.

In addition to Stanley, Maria Roters added nine points while Sierra DeAngelo and Chloe Wilson combined for eight points respectively.

The Knights had a slight edge on the boards, out rebounding the Highlanders, 34-31, led by Madelina Selvaggi with a game-best eight rebounds.

NJIT (1-4) had two players in double-figures, led by sophomore Kenna Squier's 14 points followed by freshman Lyzi Litwinko with 11 points.  Kiana Brereton added seven points off the bench for NJIT.  Squier and forward Maria Fux paced the Highlanders on the boards with five each.

Fairleigh Dickinson scored the first five points and jumped out to a 10-4 lead over the first six minutes of action but the Highlanders ended the first quarter on a 9-5 run, including a buzzer-beater three-pointer from Kendle Dalrymple, which cut the FDU lead to 15-13.

The teams traded baskets early in the second quarter before DeAngelo connected on a pair of buckets to give FDU a 22-21 lead with 4:21 left in the quarter.  Back-to-back three-pointers by NJIT pushed the Highlander lead to five, 29-24, and went into the half leading 29-27.

Litwinko shared game-high honors after the first 20 minutes netting seven points while Squier added six.  FDU's Roters combined for seven points.

NJIT extended its lead to as many as five in the third quarter, 34-29, on a three-pointer by Dani Evans but the Knights used a 7-2 run to knot the game at 36-all with 5:40 left to play.  NJIT used a 5-2 spurt over the last 2:40, cutting the Knight deficit to one, 46-45.

The opened the fourth quarter on a 12-3 run, extending its lead to double-digits, 10, 58-48, at the 6:33 mark.  Stanley accounted for 13 of the Knights 22 points in the final stanza as the visitors held on to a 68-54 victory.

NJIT will break for finals next week and return to action on Wednesday, December 23 when the Highlanders welcome Rider.  Tip-off is slated for 2pm on ESPN+.
