Women’s Basketball Wraps Up Florida Road Trip at Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, FL--NJIT will wrap up its first ASUN women's basketball road trip to Florida on Monday when the Highlanders visit Jacksonville on Monday evening at the Historic Swisher Gymnasium.  Tip-off is slated for 7pm on ESPN+.

All-Time Series
Head coach Mike Lane and his Highlander squad will look for its first all-time win at Jacksonville.  The Dolphins hold an 8-0 all-time record against NJIT since the 2016-16 season. The closest margin of victory for the Highlanders against the Dolphins took place on January 19, 2018, when Jacksonville defeated NJIT 61-56.

Last Time Out
Four players reached double-figures for North Florida led by Jazz Bond with a game-best 16 points, leading the Ospreys to a 71-48 victory Saturday afternoon in ASUN women's basketball action at UNF Arena.

NJIT's Milena Bajic led the Highlanders in the scoring column with 11 points, shooting 3-for-7 and six rebounds followed by Kenna Squier's 10 points, finished 4-for-9 from the field.  Danielle Tunstall added eight points, six rebounds and three blocked shots.

Scouting the Highlanders
NJIT (3-12, 0-2 ASUN) will look to snap a six-game skid and record its first all-time win over Jacksonville on Monday at 7pm.

Tunstall leads the Highlanders with 13.1ppg, 8.9rpg and 27 total blocks followed by Kenna Squier, who is just shy averaging double-figures at 9.7ppg.

Freshman three-point shooter Dani Evans ranks third in the ASUN in three-point percentage at 44.8 percent (13-for-29).

Scouting the Dolphins
Jacksonville (8-7, 0-2 ASUN), closed out a five-game road swing that started in mid-December and will look to snap a two-game skid and notch its first win in the ASUN.  The Dolphins previously dropped a 76-65 decision at North Alabama and 85-76 at Liberty.

The Dolphins have two players averaging double-digits paced by Destiny Marshall (15.4ppg) and Shakayla Nevitt (12.9ppg).  Marshall ranks in the top five in scoring in the ASUN.

Guard Da'Nasia Shaw tops the ASUN in three-point field goal percentage at 65 percent (13-for-20).  Jada Perry paces the Dolphins on the boards (7.3rpg) and total blocks (25).

ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll
The ASUN Conference announced its official Preseason All-Conference team and Coaches' Polls and the Highlanders were selected to finish eighth out of nine teams the league office. 

Next Up
NJIT will play its next two games at home inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.  The Highlanders will host Kennesaw State on Saturday at 1pm as part of a doubleheader with the NJIT men, who will welcome the Owls at 4pm.  Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
