NEWARK, NJ--The NJIT men's soccer team will welcome visiting ASUN Conference opponent Liberty on Saturday to Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 1:30pm.
All-Time Series
Saturday will mark the second time the two squads will meet. In the first meeting last season, Liberty topped the visiting Highlanders, 2-1, on October 6.
Scouting NJIT
NJIT (2-3-3, 0-1-0 ASUN) will look to get back to the win column, after starting the season undefeated, with a 2-0-3 overall mark and ranking as high as No. 2 in the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region.
NJIT is coming off a 4-1 home loss to Big East opponent Seton Hall in a mid-week non-conference men's soccer match-up.
As a team, NJIT has the most goals (15), assists (15) and the best shot percentage (.147) in the conference.
Rene White leads the ASUN in goals (7) and points (15) and is nationally ranked sixth and 10th in those categories, respectively.
Scouting the Flames
The Flames (3-5-0, 0-1-0 ASUN) will complete a three-game road swing, Saturday against NJIT. Liberty is 0-2 on the road trip thus far.
Each of the Flames' last three contests have been decided by a 1-0 score. Liberty defeated VMI 1-0 at Osborne Stadium on Sept. 17, while it has dropped its last two contests 1-0.
Seth Clark (3 assists) and Musa Morris (20 shots) are both second in the ASUN in their respective statistical categories.
