NEWARK, NJ--The 2019 NJIT men's soccer regular season begins on the road at Sacred Heart on August 30.

Last season, the Highlanders picked up a 1-0 victory over the Pioneers.

NJIT compiled a record of 6-11 in 2018 and welcome 11 newcomers to the Highlander squad.

Redshirt junior Rene Wihite named to the ASUN Preseason All-Conference team, returns after a 2018 season which saw him lead the team in goals (11) and points (24). His totals in both statistical categories ranked him third in the ASUN for the season and helped him earn an ASUN All-Conference Second Team selection.

Joining White on the All-Conference Second Team was midfielder Andrew Nino, who enters his final year with NJIT. Nino led the team with seven assists in 2018.

NJIT will open its home slate on September 2, welcoming Fordham, who finished with eight wins a season ago.  The two teams last met in 2015.

NJIT Highlander Athletics will enter a new era this Fall after the completion of its highly anticipated outdoor multipurpose facility, Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.  The state-of-the-art facility will be the home for NJIT men's and women's soccer and men's lacrosse programs.  When paired with the Wellness and Events Center, it gives the Highlanders one of the elite athletic venues in the Northeast.

Sacred Heart finished the 2018 season with a 4-12-1 overall record while placing seventh in the Northeast Conference standings with a conference record of 3-5.

The Pioneers return 13 to the roster for the 2019 season while welcoming an eight-member freshmen class to Park Avenue alongside five transfer students.

Sacred Heart was selected to finish eighth out of 10 teams in the NEC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
