NEWARK, NJ --- The NJIT women's tennis team saw its four-match win streak snapped in a 4-2 loss to the St. John's Red Storm Friday evening at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreation Facility.
The Highlanders picked up their victories in singles play as freshman Mouna Bouzgarrou won in three sets at No. 2 and Holly Matson dispatched her opponent at No. 4 in straight sets.
"Congratulations to St. John's on a well played match and win," head coach Zaki Abdelrahman said after the match. "We created many chances to win the doubles point but could not capitalize. I was glad to see Holly Matson back to her top form and Mouna Bouzgarrou for continuing to win at No. 2. We know where we need to develop and we will work on that."
NJIT will look to bounce back at home on Sunday, March 10 against Hofstra.
