FORT MYERS, FL—No. 8 seeded NJIT (6-23) will visit No. 1 seeded FGCU (25-4) in the opening round of the 2019 ASUN Conference Postseason Tournament on Friday, March 8 inside Alico Arena on the campus of FGCU. Tip-off is slated for 7pm on ESPN+.

All-Time Series
FGCU leads the all-time series, 11-0. NJIT will face FGCU for third time in the last four seasons in ASUN Conference postseason action.
The first time the two teams met dates back to March 6, 2008 in Edinburg, Texas at the Division I Independent Tournament. The Eagles won 75-63.
ASUN Conference Tournament
With a win over the Eagles, the Highlanders would play the winner of No. 4 North Alabama and No. 5 North Florida in the semifinals. The tournament will be re-seeded this year for the first time, so a quarterfinal upset from the No. 7 or 8 seeds could realign the semifinal round.

About the Eagles
FGCU clinched its fifth undefeated conference regular season (16-0) since 2011-12 and produced its ninth-consecutive season with at least 25 victories. The Eagles have won 23 straight and 29 of the past 30 ASUN regular season games dating back to last year. The team's current 16-game winning streak is the fourth-longest in the nation, just behind Baylor (20), Quinnipiac (18) and Rice (16).
The Eagles received five votes in the most recent Associated Press poll, which is the 32nd-most votes in the country. FGCU also sits at No. 59 in the latest RPI, third in the CollegeInsider.com poll and fifth in the espnW poll.
Keri Jewett-Giles was named ASUN Conference Player of the Week on Wednesday, averaging 19 points, five assists, four rebounds and 2.5 steals in wins over Jacksonville and Stetson.
Jewett-Giles registered a career-high 28 points on 8-for-12 shooting in a well-fought 68-62 road victory over the Dolphins on Saturday, and she followed that up with 10 points, six assists, six rebounds and two steals in Tuesday's regular-season finale against Stetson.
The redshirt junior guard is second on the team in scoring at 12.1 per contest, while also averaging 2.5 rebounds and three assists.
About the Highlanders
NJIT, under the direction of first-year head coach
Mike Lane, secured a spot in the ASUN Conference Tournament with a victory at Lipscomb, 69-53, on February 27, behind graduate student
Kelly Guarino's 23 points on 3-for-6 from three-point range and a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line. The 14 free throws made ties the NJIT Division I single-game record with
Jessica Gerald (14 at Maine; 11/29/08).
Guarino paces the Highlanders in points per game (11.3) and three-pointers made (69) while posting double-digit in 17 games, including four 20+ performances.
Junior forward
Danielle Tunstall is second on the team with 11.4 ppg. She leads the Highlanders on the glass with 7.5 boards per contest, which ranks fifth in the ASUN.
Graduate student
Tatianna Torres paces NJIT with a team-high 68 assists on the season, while also picking up 20 steals.
Torres and
Ellyn Stoll are both averaging 8.0ppg for the Highlanders. Stoll is second on the team in three-point field goals (37) and assists (62).
