CHARLESTON, WV—The NJIT men's volleyball program picked up its second straight win of the season, sweeping an EIVA weekend series at Charleston (WV), 3-0, Saturday evening at Wehrele Arena.
NJIT picked up a pair of wins this weekend, sweeping both matches against the Eagles, improving to 2-7 in the EIVA and 6-12 overall. The Highlanders recorded a 25-20, 26-24 and 25-21 victory Saturday.
In Saturday's evening match, sophomore
Alvaro Gimeno led all players with 15 kills, posting an impressive .481 hitting percentage with just two errors on 27 swings. NJIT's other player reaching double-digit kills was freshman
Jens Feldthus with 10 kills, notching a .429 hitting percentage on 21 attempts and just one error.
Piotr Namiotko also put together a strong performance with a .462 hitting percentage with eight kills on 13 swings and two errors.

Roque Nido led the match with 30 assists and six digs while middle blockers graduate student
Enrique de Diego Garcia paced the match with five total blocks (one solo, four block assists). Nido notched four block assists.
The Highlanders held a slight advantage in the service ace category, led by Gimeno with a pair of aces while four different Highlanders notched one ace each.
Charleston's Brandon Greenway paced the Eagles with 10 kills while Diego Villafane combined for 29 assists and five digs for the home team.
The Highlanders put together strong performances in all three matches – combing for a .556 percentage in the first frame (11k, 1e, 18) and a .484 in the third set (18k, 3e, 31e).
NJIT will return to action on March 18 when the Highlanders visit Belmont Abbey at 3pm in North Carolina.
