Navy Registers 5-2 Victory at NJIT

NEWARK, NJ—Visiting Navy recorded a 5-2 victory over NJIT Sunday afternoon at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.

Navy, defending Patriot League Champions, won its fifth straight match of the season, improving to 8-2 on the season.  NJIT moves to 0-2 on the young season.

"A tough loss to the defending Patriot League Champions. Abdullah (Fouad) and Zac (Castagna) played great singles matches," head coach Ira Miller added after the match. "Credit to navy for pulling out the close ones."

Navy earned the doubles points with wins at second and third doubles.  NJIT pair Tomi Antoljak and Zac Castagna combined for a 6-3 victory.

Sophomore Abdullah Fouad won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3 at third singles over Navy's Jake Fishkin.

Co-captain Zac Castagna recorded an identical score victory, 6-4, 6-4 over Navy's Peter Lohrbach at the fourth spot.

NJIT, which will host the next three matches at home, will welcome Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday, February 9 at 11am.
