ATLANTA, Ga. --- Freshman
Joleta Budiman has been named the ASUN Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
Budiman led NJIT to a sweep of matches against Seton Hall (4-3) and at Army West Point (5-2) last weekend. The native of Bandung, Indonesia was the only Highlander to win all four of her combined singles and doubles matchups, with each coming from the No. 1 spot.
In singles, Budiman won in straight sets vs. Seton Hall (6-4, 6-4) and triumphed in three at Army (7-5, 5-7, 6-2). In doubles, Budiman teamed up with sophomore
Holly Matson for a 6-1 win over the Pirates and a 6-2 victory over the Black Knights.
Budiman is on a four-match win streak at No. 1 singles (8-1 in sets) and three-match win streak at No. 1 doubles
The ASUN weekly honor is NJIT's third this season (most of any school) and seventh all-time for the Highlanders, following
Nathalie Habegger,
Natacha Minc and current teammates
Mayar Eltony and
Advaita Saravanan, who won twice last season.
