NEWARK, NJ—NJIT, which will play two straight at home, will host VMI in men's soccer non-conference action on Homecoming Weekend, Saturday, October 5 at 3pm on Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
Homecoming Weekend
Show your NJIT pride by joining Highlander Nation for Homecoming Weekend 2019, on October 5-6. A full schedule of events offers something for the entire family during what is sure to be a beautiful fall weekend on campus.
Homecoming will kick-off at 11am with opening remarks by NJIT President Dr. Joel Bloom in the Campus Center Ballroom followed by the Ribbon Cutting of the new Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium at 11:45am.
After the ribbon cutting, cheer on the men's soccer team as the Highlanders welcome VMI at 3pm.
On Sunday, the women's soccer team will host ASUN Conference opponent North Florida at 1pm.

NJIT leads the all-time series, 3-0-1. The last time the two teams was in 2013.
Scouting the Highlanders
NJIT and La Salle played to a 2-2 double overtime draw on Monday, marking the fifth overtime match for NJIT (and fourth double overtime match).
Rene White, the Highlanders 5-foot-8 forward from Bloomfield, NJ, scored twice in the first half, raising his season mark to nine goals, which tops the ASUN Conference and ranks in the top 10 in the nation. His 26 career goals ties the NJIT Division I record with Mamadou Guirassy.
White ranks in the NCAA Top-20 in four different categories -- total goals (2nd; 9), total points (6th; 19), goals per game (8th; 0.90) and points per game (20th; 1.90).
The Highlanders rank 16th nationally in goals scored (20) and 18th in total points (57) on the year.
Freshman goalkeeper
Samuel Reisgys sits in the top-10 in the country for both minutes played (4th; 969:57) and total saves (9th; 47).
Of its 10 matches this season, NJIT has scored at least one goal in nine of those including seven in the 7-0 shutout win over Sacred Heart to open the season.
United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region Poll
NJIT climbed back into week five poll ranked No. 10 in the Atlantic Region by the United Soccer Coaches.
Both soccer teams were once again honored by United Soccer Coaches with the organization's Team Academic Award, the group announced Thursday. NJIT was one of 255 schools to have both of their teams recognized with the award.
ASUN Player of the Week Honors
Junior forward
Thomas Radon has been selected ASUN Conference Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday.
Radon picks up his first Career ASUN Player of the Week honor and just the third player in NJIT program history to earn this award.
In a 1-1 week for the Highlanders, Radon scored a pair of goals in NJIT's 3-0 shutout victory over Liberty to earn three points in ASUN action on Saturday afternoon.
Scouting VMI
VMI, coming off its first win of the 2019 campaign, enters Saturday with a 1-8-0 overall record.
The Keydets defeated Regent, 4-0, marking the first career win for head coach Charlie Hubbard at the school. Hubbard is in his first season as VMI's head mentor after two years as the program's assistant coach and one as the associate head coach.
Freshman forward Anderson Velazquez scored twice, Richard Quispe netted the first goal of the match on a penalty kick and assisted on the last goal of the match, credited to Brandon Hornung, his third of the season.
