NEWARK, NJ—NJIT (5-14, 2-4 ASUN) will welcome first-place FGCU (15-4, 6-0 ASUN) on Tuesday evening at 7pm inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.

NJIT is coming off a 77-54 home loss against newcomer North Alabama Sunday afternoon.  The Highlanders were led by Danielle Tunstall's 19 points — the only double-digit scorer for the home team on 9-of-14 from the field.  The junior forward has scored in double-figures in the last five games and was one rebound shy a double-double against the Lions.

All-Time Series
FGCU leads the all-time series, 9-0.

The first time the two teams met dates back to March 6, 2008 in Edinburg, Texas at the Division I Independent Tournament.  The Eagles won 75-63.

Scouting the Eagles of FGCU
Defending FGCU enters Tuesday's contest with a 15-4 overall mark and remains perfect in the ASUN Conference. 

The Eagles, winners of its last six games, are 5-2 on the road and last lost on December 30 at ACC opponent, Duke, 57-41.

The Green and Blue ranked 95th in the latest RPI poll.

FGCU's Tytionia Adderly ranks fourth in the ASUN in rebounds per game (8.0) while two Eagles ranks in the top three in three-point percentage.    Chandler Ryan ranks first in the league in three-point field goal percentage (45.5) and third in three-pointers (46).  Davion Wingate sits in tied for second in three-point percentage (45.0).

FGCU has two players averaging double-digits paced by Nasrin Ulel (14.3ppg) and Keri Jewett-Giles.  Lisa Zderadicka has dished out a team-best 69 assists and 25 steals.

Scouting the Highlanders
NJIT enters Sunday's contest with a 5-14 overall mark, 2-4 in the ASUN.  The five wins match the win-out totals from a season ago.  At home this season, NJIT holds a 3-6 record, which also matches the win total from last season. Two of the Highlander victories have come in ASUN play against Kennesaw State and Lipscomb.
 
Graduate student Kelly Guarino's 14.1ppg and 57 three-pointers paces the Highlanders this season.  Guarino tops the conference in three-pointers made (57) and free throw percentage (85.5).

The 5-foot-7 guard has scored 981 points in her career.  She is 19 points shy of becoming the ninth player in school history to reach the 1000-point milestone.  

Tunstall has recorded double-doubles for the Highlanders in the last three out of six contests.  She ranks second in the conference at 8.4rpg.

NJIT will play its next three games on the road, first visiting the newest member to the ASUN Conference, Liberty on February 2 in Lynchburg, VA.
