NEWARK, NJ—Sophomore Marcus Jackson paced NJIT with a match-best 11 kills while the Highlanders as a team, recorded 19 aces in NJIT's 3-0 win over Lehman as part of the Golden Dome Classic hosted by Rutgers-Newark.
NJIT (2-4) swept Lehman 25-10, 25-9 and 25-6, securing its second straight win of the season. Lehman drops to 0-2 on the young season.
In addition to Jackson's 11 kills, freshmen Will Andrews and Derek Evans combined for nine kills each in the Highlanders win. Evans finished the match, hitting an impressive 1.000 on nine attempts with no errors.
Senior Pat Howell piled up 33 assists and five aces.
Defensively, Andrews registered a match-high six digs followed by libero Parker Lui with five digs.
Will Eschenbach led Lehman with three kills while Tairou Diaman notched four aces.
NJIT will return to action at 2pm against host Rutgers-Newark.
