FAIRFIELD, CT - The NJIT women's volleyball team dropped its final two matches against URI an Binghamton on Saturday at the Sacred Heart Tournament.
NJIT senior libero was selected to the Hampton Inn by Hilton Shelton Invitational All-Tournament Team. Nieto combined for 42 digs (4.20dps).
URI 3, NJIT 1
In the Highlanders first match against URI, the NJIT dropped a 3-1, decision. URI took the first set 25-16 and the Highlanders rallied and came back to win the second frame 25-17. URI won the final two frames, 25-13 and 25-22.
NJIT's
Iva Mandic led all hitters with 13 kills while
Marissa Soistman tallied a match-high three aces and a team high 13 assists.
Libero
Adriana Nieto notched a match-high 14 digs.
Binghamton 3, NJIT 0
Against Binghamton, NJIT fell 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-21) paced by
Madi Busler, who posted nine kills in the first match against URI and led the Highlanders with 12 kills against the Bearcats.
Setter's Soistman and
Liz Benson combined for 26 assists and Nieto grabbed 17 digs, again a match-high best.
The Highlanders return home on September 21, hosting its first ASUN Conference match of the season against Kennesaw State starting at 6pm.
