NEWARK, NJ--NJIT men's soccer will open its 2018 campaign on August 24 at 5pm, hosting Sacred Heart at Kean University East Campus Facility.

With construction underway on-campus for the new Soccer Stadium, the Highlanders home field will be in Hillside, NJ, on the campus of Kean University – East Campus Facility until construction of the soccer stadium is completed.  Click HERE for directions.

Near the middle of the home page, click Upcoming Events for a list of scheduled NJIT contests. After finding the event, click the camera icon to the left next to the live stats icon in the red box. That brings you to the Highlander Sports Network portal where you can access the desired program.

Last Time Out
Senior Danny Cordeiro scored the lone goal of the match for NJIT in the Highlanders 1-0 shutout victory at Sacred Heart on August 25.

Scouting NJIT
NJIT compiled a record of 8-7-4 under head coach Fernando Barboto in 2017, highlighted by the teams' second-straight appearance in the ASUN Championship.

The Highlanders will look to replace 2017 NCAA Division I Golden Boot Award Winner and ASUN Player of the Year Mamadou Guirassy

Preseason All-Conference selection Pablo Jimenez leads all returners with three goals scored, while his seven assists lead all ASUN players in 2017. 

Junior goalkeeper Victor Pujades brings two years of starting experience to the table for Highlanders, while 2017 ASUN All-Freshman Team selections Hugo Espuela, Thomas Radon and Jimenez look to build off their successful freshman campaigns in 2018.

NJIT will see forward Rene White make a return to the 2018 squad, following an injury-shortened season in 2017. The redshirt sophomore scored six goals and accumulated 14 points in 2016, both marks good enough for second on the team.

ASUN Conference Coaches Poll
The Highlanders were picked to finish fourth after the league announced its 2018 Preseason Coaches' Poll.  Jimenez, from Barcelona, Spain, earned a spot on the Preseason ASUN All-Conference team was voted ASUN Preseason Fan-Vote Player of the Year with 342 votes.

Scouting Sacred Heart
The Pioneers finished the 2017 season with 3-14-1 overall record while placing eighth in the NEC standings.

The team returns five seniors including midfielder Oscar Curras who led the team in goals in assists in the previous season.

Northeast Conference Coaches Poll
The Pioneers were was picked to finish fifth in the Northeast Conference. 

The defending NEC Champions, St. Francis Brooklyn, earned the top spot in the poll with all eight first place votes. LIU Brooklyn and Fairleigh Dickinson followed in second and third in the poll.
