BRONXVILLE, NY--NJIT's
Kevin Myren and
Luca Berger have been named to the 2018 Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) All-Academic Team Coordinator Brian Snow announced.
The 2018 EIVA All-Academic team includes 19 student-athletes from six of the eight conference institutions.
In order to be named to the team recipients must have participated in at least 60% of their team's sets, maintained a minimum of a 3.50 GPA, and must be in at least their second year academically.
Myren, a senior from Oak Lawn, IL, is a biology major and holds a 3.654 GPA.
This season, the Highlanders middle, combined for 126 kills (1.37kps), 23 service aces (0.25) and 70 total blocks (0.76).
Myren combined for a season-best nine kills against Springfield (April 11) and six total blocks (all assists) against Sacred Heart (Feb. 23).
Berger, a sophomore from Goianial, Brazil, is a business major, boosting a 3.6 GPA.
The 6-foot-10 middle blocker recorded 131 kills (1.52kps), 15 service aces and a team-leading 97 total blocks (11 solo, 86 assists).
Berger notched three matches with 10 kills, most recently at Penn State (April 14). He posted a career-best nine total blocks (all assists) at Sacred Heart (April 6).
NJIT, which did not earn a spot in the four-team EIVA tournament, completed its 2018 slate with a 9-17 overall record, including a 5-9 record in league competition, finishing in sixth place.
