UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – NJIT men's volleyball lost against EIVA opponent Penn State 3-1 on Saturday night.
The Highlanders finished the season 9-17 overall and 5-9 in EIVA play.
NJIT had three players with double-digit kills in
Piotr Namiotko (12),
Alvaro Gimeno (10) and
Luca Berger (10).
Gimeno also posted four blocks and five digs, while Berger produced a match-high six blocks and Namiotko a team-high six digs.
As a team the Highlanders lead in blocks 7-5, kills 45-44 and assists 43-41.
For the Nittany Lions (15-10, 10-4 EIVA), Aidan Albrecht led all hitters with 14 kills.
Matthew McLaren produced seven kills, six digs and two serving aces, and Jason Donorovich led the team in blocks with three.
Like Braswell led the match in assists with 37 and Calvin Mende tallied a match-best seven digs.
The Highlanders won the first set 25-21, but Penn State would take the final three for the win 25-21, 25-17, 25-19.
Freshman Gimeno led the team in kills with 313 and points with 381.5, and also ranked second in the EIVA conference in both of those categories. Gimeno also led the Highlanders in serving aces with 45 and third in the EIVA.
Setter
Ricardo Whitaker led the team in assists, despite missing a few of NJIT's final games due to injury.
Luca Berger ranked third in the EIVA in blocks and first for NJIT with 97.

Shannon Heckman ranked first on the team in digs with 163.
