LIU Brooklyn (7-1) won the doubles point with wins at first and third doubles while posting wins at first, third and fourth singles, to earn the 4-3 win.
NJIT (4-5) notched three wins in the singles contests at second, fourth and sixth spot. Highlander duo
Amanda Helminsky and
Advaita Saravanan were 7-5 winners at second doubles.
Saravan was a double-winner for the Highlanders, as the freshman recorded a 6-1, 7-6(7) victory at second singles.
NJIT's
Rafaella Sampaio picked up a straight set victory at the fourth spot, 7-6(3), 7-5, topping Malin Leysen.
Highlander
Alba Rosas Garcia battled out a three-set victory at sixth singles, defeating Ana Leonte, 6-3, 6-7(7), 10-8.
NJIT will return to action on March 9 when the Highlanders visit NYIT in Old Westbury, NY. The match is slated to start at 5pm.
