NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT women's basketball team will host first-place FGCU on Monday at 7pm inside the new Wellness and Events Center, concluding the home portion of the Highlanders schedule.

The Highlanders (3-22, 1-9 ASUN) are coming off a 72-53 home loss to Stetson while FGCU (23-4, 9-1 ASUN) won its third straight game, 88-44, against USC Upstate.

A simple way to find ESPN3 is on NJIT's official athletics website, http://www.njithighlanders.com. Near the middle of the home page NJIT TV section, click Upcoming Events for a list of scheduled NJIT contests. After finding the event, click the camera icon to the right of the event listing. That brings you to an ESPN3 portal where you can access the desired program.

Starting in January, every NJIT game played in the ASUN Conference, home and away, throughout the regular season and into the ASUN postseason tournament will be covered on ESPN3.

FGCU leads the all-time series, 7-0.  In the last meeting, FGCU topped visiting NJIT, 90-66, in Fort Myers, FL.

The first time the two teams met dates back to March 6, 2008 in Edinburg, Texas at the Division I Independent Tournament.  The Eagles won 75-63.

FGCU has won three straight and 13 of 14 after an 88-44 victory at USC Upstate.

The Eagles, which clinched a home quarterfinal game in the ASUN Championship with the win over USC Upstate, ranks 38th in the latest NCAA RPI poll, #1 in espnW mid-major polls, No. 3 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major poll and receiving votes (9) in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

In the win over USC Upstate, the Eagles  dished out a Division-I era program record 31 assists while Taylor Gradinjan tied a career-high with six three-pointers and finished with a game-high 22 points.

Three Eagles are averaging double-digits in scoring, paced by Rosemarie Julien at 12.9 ppg followed by China Dow (11.0) and Gradinjan (10.2).  Tytionia Adderly tops the team and ranks second in ASUN on the boards with 8.6 rpg.

Jessica Cattani is the league leader in three-point percentage at 40.7 (35-86) while Gradinjan ranks third at 38.9 (68-175).

FGCU is ranked No. 1 in the nation in 3-point field goals attempted (884) and third in 3-point field goals per game (11.2) and three-point field goals made (307).

NJIT's Tatianna Torres paces the team in four categories—points (11.8ppg), tied in rebounds (5.6rpg) assists (82) and steals (47).  She has recorded at least one steal in 23-out-of-25 games and two assists in 23-out-of-25 games.  Torres ranks fourth in steals and seventh assists in the ASUN.

Kelly Guarino is the Highlanders other double-digit scorer at 10.8ppg.  Her 36.8 three-point field goal percentage ranks fourth in the ASUN.

Taj Lewis, who ranks first in the ASUN in field goal percentage, is shooting 51.1 percent while averaging 9.3ppg.

NJIT will play the next three games on the road to wrap up the regular season, first visiting North Florida on Saturday at 2pm.

ASUN Conference Tournament
The eight-team, three-round 2018 ASUN Women's Basketball Tournament spans from March 2-11 and will be held on campus sites. The quarterfinals begin on March 2 and the semifinals on March 7. The 2018 ASUN Tournament Champion will be crowned on March 11.
