NEWARK, NJ -- Stetson University won its fourth-consecutive match with sweep at NJIT on Sunday, spoiling Senior Day at the Wellness and Events Center by scores of 25-13, 25-18, 25-23.
The Hatters (16-10, 8-6 ASUN) four-match winning streak is their best of the season and longest since a four-gamer in 2014. Meanwhile, the Highlanders (4-26, 2-12 ASUN) have dropped nine-consecutive matches since posting back-to-back conference victories Oct. 6 and Oct. 9.
Regardless, the big win of the day for NJIT was honoring the contributions of seniors

For the match on Sunday, the Hatters outhit the Highlanders, .274 to .067.
Stetson sophomore Riley Nieporte led the way with a match-high nine kills. Her teammate junior Emily DeStaffino paced all players with 26 assists. Nieto tied for the most digs with Hatters junior Eva Deisa at 14.

THe Hatters shook off a slow start to get things rolling. With the first set tied, 8-8, Stetson reeled off 17 of the next 22 points for a win.
In Set 2, the Highlanders flexed early when a kill by freshman
Lillee Olson put NJIT up, 13-9. But Stetson stormed back by taking nine of the next 10 points to coast to a 2-0 match lead.
NJIT put up a fight to avoid a sweep -- racing out to a 14-7 lead in the third set. The score was later tied, 23-23, before Stetson registered back-to-back points for match. The finish came on a kill by sophomore Rebecca Ingram.
NJIT will finish the regular season with road conference matches at North Alabama (2-19, 0-12 ASUN) on Nov. 6 and at North Florida (9-21, 4-10 ASUN) on Nov. 10.
