JACKSONVILLE, FL—North Florida swept visiting NJIT, 3-0, with a straight set victory on Saturday evening in ASUN Conference women's volleyball action at UNF Arena.
The Highlanders conclude the 2018 season with a 4-28 overall mark, 2-14 in the ASUN while the Ospreys stand at 11-21 overall, 6-10 in the ASUN.
North Florida notched a 25-11, 25-15 and 25-23 home victory for the Ospreys second straight win.
North Florida finished the match, hitting .385, producing 41 kills on 91 swings and just six errors. Devyn Wheeler paced the match, hitting .812 with 13 kills on 16 attempts while Solimar notched 10 kills.
Madilyn McCarty piled up a match-high 32 assists while Asante Lopez led the match with 13 digs followed by Madison Donnelly with 10.
Both teams registered five service aces.
NJIT had four players record five kills –
Udo Nwosu,
Jovana Baosic,
Madi Busler and
Lillee Olson.
Freshman
Marissa Soistman posted 11 assists and six digs for the Highlanders.
Defensively, three Highlanders -- Soistman,
Liz Benson and
Adriana Nieto recorded six digs.
Nieto closes out her four-year career at NJIT with a total of 1,907 digs and 122 service aces. Nieto posted double-digit digs in every match but two this season, including a season-best 43 digs vs. Saint Peter's. The senior ranks second in the conference in digs per set (4.95) and total digs (485).
