Highlights vs. UNA
NEWARK, NJ – NJIT women's volleyball posted their first sweep of the season, a 3-0 win over ASUN Conference opponent North Alabama on Tuesday night.
The Highlanders (4-17, 2-5 ASUN), won in straight sets 26-24, 25-19 and 25-13.
Down 21-19 in the first set the Highlanders pulled ahead to 22-21 with a kill by
Makayla Greenfield and two errors by the Lions.
NJIT won the set in extra points off of a service ace from
Olivia Welsch.
The Highlanders were down again early in the second set 12-10, but managed to work their way back into the match even leading by as much as five points during the set.
Tied 6-6 in the third set, the Highlanders scored off another kill from Greefield and never relinquished their lead.
Madi Busler and
Jovana Baosic and freshman Greenfield each notched eight kills.
Liz Benson and
Marissa Soistman shared setting duties and tallied 34 assists between them.
Adriana Nieto led her team with 11 digs and UNA's Catie Ladner led the match with 12.
For the Lions Madison Ruble made eight kills.
The Highlanders continue ASUN play hosting North Florida on Friday October 12 for a 6pm in the NJIT Wellness and Events Center celebrating alumni night and pink night.
