NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT women's volleyball team will hit the road for the first time in ASUN Conference play as the Highlanders visit Stetson on Friday and Jacksonville on Sunday.
Both matches will begin at 6pm.
Scouting the Highlanders (2-16, 0-4 ASUN)
Senior libero
Adriana Nieto is one of the best liberos in the country and her 5.38 digs per set and 323 total digs rank 20
th and 28
th nationally.
Outside hitter
Madi Busler has posted double-digit kills in two of her last two matches, including 13 against Liberty.
Junior setter
Liz Benson leads the team in assists with 341. Benson has recorded 10 matches with 20 or more assists this season.
Scouting Stetson (10-6, 2-2 ASUN)
With the Hatters' victory against North Florida last week, Stetson has recorded its first double-digit win season since 2015.
Stetson's 10-6 mark is their best start through 16 games since the 2014 season when they also started 10-6.
Julie Varga posted her best match of the year on Wednesday with 10 kills, 24 digs and a .325 hitting percentage.
Hao Jin has been one of the best two-way players in the ASUN, averaging 2.39 kill/set (14th) and 1.06 blocks/set (6th).
Scouting Jacksonville (1-15, 0-4 ASUN)
Jacksonville will host North Alabama and NJIT this weekend. The Dolphins hold a 6-0 all-time series record over the Highlanders.
Mallory Mattingly is averaging 15.6 kills over her last eight matches; she fourth in the ASUN with 218 kills.
JU is one of the best serving teams in the league ranking first in aces/set at 1.61 and second in total aces with 98.
With 468 assists, Lauren Petersen ranks sixth in the ASUN and fifth in assists/set at 8.11.
