DELAND, FL—Stetson's Julie Varga notched a match-best 12 kills in the Hatters straight set victory over visiting NJIT, 3-0, Friday evening in ASUN Conference women's volleyball action at Edmunds Center.
Stetson records its second consecutive 3-0 win, improving to 11-6 overall, 3-2 in the league while the Highlanders drop to 2-17 overall, 0-5 in the ASUN.
In addition to Varga's match-high 12 kills, Anna Bezhan added eight kills and 11 digs. 
Setter Naina Ivanova combined for a double-double with 26 assists and 11 digs while Chelcie Spence led all players with 18 digs.
Spence paced the Hatters with 18 digs followed by Bezhan (11), Ivanova (11) and Eva Deisa (10). 
In front of the net, Stetson held a 10-to-3 advantage in team blocking, paced by Brianna Schmid with six total blocks (two solo, four assists).
NJIT's 
Madi Busler paced the Highlanders with 11 kills while 
Iva Mandic added six kills. 
The Highlanders used two setters – 
Marissa Soistman and 
Liz Benson who notched 12 and 11 assists respectively.
Senior libero 
Adriana Nieto recorded a team-best 16 digs followed by 
Olivia Welsch (9), Benson (7) and Soistman (7).
NJIT will return to action on Saturday at 6pm when the Highlanders visit Jacksonville.  Both teams will be in search for its first ASUN Conference victory.
