The NJIT men's soccer team will open the 2017 season at Sacred Heart Friday afternoon at Park Avenue Field with kickoff slated for 4pm.

All-time Series
NJIT leads the all-time series, 3-2.  The two teams last played in 2015, with the Highlanders scoring an early goal and held on for the 1-0 shutout.

Scouting the Highlanders
The Highlanders are coming off one of the most successful seasons in the Division I era, reaching eight wins last season, marking the second-highest win total, since competing as an NCAA Division I program (first season 2004), under the leadership of second-year head coach Fernando Barboto.

A key returner for the Highlanders this season is senior forward Mamadou Guirassy, who was named to the Division I All-Southwest Region third-team and selected to the ASUN Conference second-team in 2015.

The powerful forward scored seven goals in 2016, after combining for three tallies in his first two seasons at NJIT. His 17 points ranked fifth in the conference, while his three game-winning goals were at the top of the ASUN.

Sophomore Victor Pujades, an ASUN Conference All-Freshmen team honoree, returns in goal for NJIT after a stellar first season. The keeper led the conference with seven shutouts, including four consecutive in 2016, setting a new NJIT Division I mark.  He posted a 1.11 goals against average with 51 saves and a .729 save percentage.

ASUN Conference Preseason Poll
NJIT, league newcomers a season ago, was selected to finish fifth out of seven teams, after making its first ASUN Men's Soccer Championship appearance.
