Calloway Post Game Comments w/ Lanpher and Torres
NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT women's basketball team (1-10) scored the most points in program history in a 106-42 win over Division III St. Joseph's College Brooklyn (4-5) on Monday night in non-conference action at the Wellness and Events Center.
The 106 points is the most points scored in a game by NJIT (at any level) since the Division-II Highlanders' 98-72 win over Goldey Beacom on December 2, 2004.
NJIT had five players reach double-figure digits, paced by redshirt junior
Tatianna Torres, who scored a career-best 27 points, 16 rebounds and added eight assists. Torres finished 11-for-17 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line.
Kelly Guarino, who returned back to the court for the second time this season after undergoing knee surgery last season, produced a season-best 19 points, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.
Sophomore guard
Amarri Trueheart combined for a career-best 19 points while freshman guard
Ellyn Stoll netted a personal-best 15 points and nine assists. As a team, the Highlanders dished out 34 assists, a new program single-game record (29 assists vs. NYIT, 1/22/2000).
Senior forward
Taj Lewis registered her second double-double of the season, netting 14 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Lewis finished 6-of-11 from the field, including three blocks.
Freshman
Lucia Martinez-Ortiz turned in a strong performance, grabbing a career-best 12 rebounds, four blocks and four steals in 26 minutes of action off the bench for the Highlanders.
Junior
Jordan Ireland filled up the box score, scoring nine points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals in her first career start.
St. Joseph's College Brooklyn was led by Nina DiCioccio and Kelly O'Donnell, who scored 11 points apiece followed by Victoria Porcasi's 10 points. DiCioccio led the Bears on the boards with seven rebounds.
NJIT opened up the game on a 19-0 run, sparked by a three-pointer by Ireland. St. Joseph's College Brooklyn DiCioccio got the visitors on the board at the 4:20 mark. The Highlanders held a 27-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter led by Trueheart with eight points, including 2-of-2 from three-point range.
The Highlanders scored 10 consecutive points to start the second quarter and outscored the Bears, 27-5, extending its lead to 40, 54-14. NJIT's

Kelly Guarino each scored six points for NJIT in the quarter.
Trueheart led all scorers at the half with 13 points followed by Stoll and
Taj Lewis with 10 points. The Bears were led by Kelly O'Donnell with five points.
NJIT scored its 100
th point in the fourth quarter on a three-pointer by Ireland at the 5:20 mark. The 106 points scored are the most points scored at any level for the Highlanders.
NJIT will return to action on Saturday at 1pm, hosting Rider at the Wellness and Events Center.
