FORT MYERS, FL—Albert Ruiz scored a pair of goals for FGCU as the Eagles clinched the No. 2 seed in the 2017 ASUN Conference Men's Soccer Tournament with a convincing 5-0 victory over the Highlanders Sunday afternoon at the FGCU Soccer Complex.
The match, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 28, was postponed till Sunday due to heavy rainfall all day in the Fort Myers area, making for unplayable field conditions.
The Eagles (4-1-1 ASUN, 7-5-3) scored twice in the first five minutes and added an additional three goals to keep the clean sheet.
NJIT (3-2-1, 8-7-3) will be the No. 3 seed in the ASUN Conference Men's Soccer Tournament and face No. 6 Lipscomb in Fort Myers, Florida in the first round on Friday, November 3 at 5pm.

FGCU outshot the Highlanders, 20-6, 11-2 on shots on goal and a 6-3 edge on corner kicks.
Three different Highlanders – Guirassy,
Carlos Garcia and
Pablo Jimenez each recorded two shots apiece for the visitors. Both shot by Jimenez were on goal.
Pujades combined for six saves while Jared Brown registered the clean sheet, stopping two Highlander shots.
